Nithin Kamath, the CEO and creator of Zerodha, has written a motivational essay on his father-in-law, who suffered frostbite and lost all of his fingers during the Kargil War. Shivaji Patil, who is 70 years old, still works and enjoys running his grocery store in Belgaum, Karnataka. The old man’s active way of life and upbeat perspective have motivated online users.

When Patil lost his fingers to frostbite during the Kargil War, he voluntarily retired from the Indian Army as a Havaldar, according to a lengthy LinkedIn post by Kamath. The tenacious guy rides his “decades-old scooter” to the neighbourhood market every day to shop for things made specifically for people with disabilities. His wife assists him in managing the store and the home.
